How it works
|
- Forgive the pun, but we're sure you'll look back at this trip to "the roof of the world" as a peak in your life.
- Tibet, as you know, is the largest and highest plateau on earth. To the south it is bordered for almost 3300km by the Himalayas, to the west is the equally rugged Karakorum. Between the two ranges are all the world's 8000m peaks – 14 of them – including the sky-piercing summit of Mount Everest.
- With these rocky leviathans as your backdrop, you will spend eight days exploring Tibet – a land of incredible contrasts – with the Tiger Mountain Group, the absolute experts in this part of the world. The itinerary will include sightseeing in Lhasa, which is home to the Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery (the biggest in Tibet) and, of course, the awesome Potala Palace.

- You'll fly into Lhasa from Kathmandu where you will spend two days in and around this fascinating city. Then you’ll drive through to Gyantse and later on to Tsedang finally making your way back to Lhasa for your return flight to Kathmandu. Because this isn't one of Tiger Mountain's more strenuous tours, about the hardest thing here will be pronouncing the place names.

-
The journey’s transport, transfers and all accommodation is taken care of so you’ll be able to absorb the extraordinary sights, smells and tastes of this amazing country:
- You’ll be transported in Tibet by 4-wheel drive landcruisers
- Accommodation in Lhasa at the Lhasa Hotel or Dhood Gu Hotel on bed and breakfast/sharing basis
- Accommodation outside of Lhasa will be in the best available Guest Houses/Lodges on bed and breakfast/sharing basis
- And your sightseeing will be with your own English speaking Tibetan guide.
-
Once in Tibet you'll find the people open and good humoured, and (unlike the dull, grey UK) they smile – a lot. You'll see an unusually diverse landscape of snow-capped summits, colourful flora, and a way of life like few other places on Earth.
