Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-FX33 digital camera was Editor’s Choice for ‘Digital Camera Buyer’, a ‘Recommended’ buy by Trusted.reviews (online) and comes ‘Highly Recommended’ by Cameralabs (online).

Here’s why:

Despite its very compact body and slim profile, the Lumix FX33 comes with a 28mm wide-angle Leica DC lens that lets you fit more people in a photo when space is tight or, we gather, when subjects are broad. (We are of course referring to sweeping scenery rather any relative of yours).
There is a very clever 2.5-inch LCD that detects the light conditions and adjusts itself accordingly so that you can see the image in virtually any light.
Panasonic’s Intelligent Image Stabilization system is in place to get rid of the effects of shakey hands as well as Intelligent ISO Control to prevent motion blur.

And if all this cleverness wasn’t enough, there is all the new technology:
Intelligent Auto mode has been introduced which gives you three new advanced functions that all happen automatically, so you can shoot without the bother of adjusting the settings every time conditions change. These three are:
- the Intelligent Scene Selector which automatically sets the appropriate scene mode,
- Face Detection helps the camera recognize a human face, focus and set AE.
- And thirdly, the Quick AF system which allows the camera to start focusing on the subject even without pressing a shutter button halfway – this means that the auto focus time is minimised so you get a better chance of capturing the moment.
As well as the Venus Engine III for high-performance image processing, there is also a newly added High-Speed Burst shooting mode on the FX33 that lets you snap off a whizzy seven shots per second – perfect if you’re the winning bidder for the Monaco F1 Grand Prix this year.
