> Dear Jill
>
> We have just returned from our weekend in London
> staying at the Dorset Square Hotel. It was a great success
> due in no part to the excellent service we received at that
> hotel. Not only did they give us a splendid room at the
> front overlooking the Square (Room 102), they served up two
> delicious breakfasts, a splendid evening meal and, biggest
> surprise of all, a superb tea. And yet at the end of our trip
> all we had to pay for was a couple of sandwiches we had on arrival !
>
> The staff were extremely helpful. The room was kept
> immaculate. You may not know that the Potting Shed restaurant
> is no more. It ceased trading two months ago. Now they have
> an Italian Restaurant which is struggling to make its mark as
> they cannot advertise it very prominently outside. So when we
> dined there on Saturday evening we were the only ones present
> - a shame. But the staff were wonderful, the cooking spot on
> and the bottle of wine just right. The bill came to £92
> including the tip but the hotel picked up the whole cost !
>
> At breakfast I dined on smoked salmon and the most
> perfect scrambled egg I have ever had at any hotel - even
> Prince Charles (his favourite dish ) would have approved !!
>
> And then at 5 pm on Sunday afternoon they served up a
> tea fit for the Queen - fresh strawberries, more smoked
> salmon, two kinds of sandwiches, two huge muffins, toast,
> butter, jam, and several cakes, so much that we had no need
> to dine out that night ! Eating this in the lounge surrouded
> by book cases, comfortable armchairs, a drinks cupboard with
> an honesty box we felt we were in a London club.
>
> I cannot think any negatives apply to this hotel other
> than its slightly out of way position as regards the top
> sights of London but the nearby buses a short walk away are
> useful in overcoming this. And across the road is Dorset
> Square where apparently cricket began before LORDS.
>
> Terrific.
>
> I shall be putting in a bid for this hotel again next year ....
>
> Thanks for arranging this for us.
>
> Sincerely
